I figured I might as well update in here while in my self imposed quarantine. I'm on day six after contracting the H1N1 Flu and I'm going stir crazy. I am beginning to recover, although not as quickly as I would like. I've spent most of my time in bed watching many, many episodes of Charmed and the occasional VHS tape. They're oldies but goodies to be sure. One thing I will say, I forgot how much I hated fastforwarding through trailers. Man what a pain in the butt it was!
This is a horrendous time to get sick as far as school goes. The semester ends in two weeks and I have so many papers and assignments still to do. I have done some readings for school, mostly working on Gay New York by George Chauncey and A Space on the Side of the Road by Kathleen Stewart. Neither are terribly enjoyable, although reading Stewart's book is like getting a root canal with no pain killers. I'm almost done Gay NY so I will have to go back to Stewart's book soon.
I thought that I would share some pictures of my lovely Christmas tree. I put it up about a week and a half ago and it still makes me smile. Although I think I may rearrange the ornaments because I don't think they're evenly distributed. They kind of clump together, especially similar styles. I am especially proud of my new tree topper. It's made out of peacock feathers and I absolutely love it. I was on the prowl for a unique one, trying to avoid the typical star or angel. I like this one because I like peacock feathers for one, and I think it's a unique twist on the typical star topper.
This year decorating the tree is so exciting for me because I am living alone for the very first time. I bought my little four foot silver tree on clearance at Michaels last year on Boxing Day and I love it. I think it is beautiful and elegant in an atypical way. I didn't have any roommates opinions to consider, or some of their ugly ornaments to accommodate. One thing I am surprised by is the amount of ornaments that I have. Too many for the tree! I wonder if I can find a full size silver tree this Boxing Day? Although I have a kitty that may not be able to resist the temptation of that many dangling ornaments. I'm paranoid enough with my little one on my dining table right now.
