I bought a felt Christmas ornament kit at Joann's Fabrics while I was on vacation in Florida. It really got me motivated to start sewing again. I love the design elements in these ornaments and so I decided to make some of my own. I kept the black scalloped outline, the simplicity and the colour schemes.

French Macaroons
I have been dying to try French macaroons for ages! I've seen them posted about on blogs for a couple years and have wanted to get my hands on one. I finally did this week! I went to Toronto for the day and stopped in at a place called Wanda Pie in the Sky or something like that. They had pretty pink ones and I ordered one as soon as I set my eyes on them. They were okay, but I think that my love affair with macaroons has finally come to an end. I think I love the aesthetic of them more than the flavour.

Another Tote Like Creation
I made another tote bag this weekend. I've had this skirt for years ever since I saw it at the Goodwill and fell in love with it. I knew I would never be able to fit into it, and so I have waited for the right project/to develop my sewing skills.
I'm thrilled with the results. I love that I finally get to use this fabric for something I love. There are a few things I may tweak, such as putting buttons where the button holes are and making the zippered area into a pocket. My sewing instructor suggested these ideas, and as much as I am irritated with the class, they are good ideas. So I think I may do that this afternoon.
Which means another trip to fabric land for the buttons... Ugh, the ladies there are starting to remember me. I spent far too much money there on Friday. I'm sure they'll love to see me coming in again!
I also made a sewing machine cover this weekend. However it wasn't nearly so successful. I made a few fatal cuts into the fabric and spent hours trying to fix it. In the end I was so frustrated and enraged that I ripped it apart. Like a crazy She-Hulk. Not my finest hour to be sure. But you live and you learn. I'm going to try making another one and it will look lovely since I have definitely learned from my mistakes!
Update: buttons are on and they look awesome! They make the bag for me to be honest.

Market Tote
I've been so frustrated with my sewing class. The instructor is this older woman that talks all the time, doesn't stay organized and who moves at a snail's pace. Needless to say, I won't continue with more classes with her.
I got so frustrated that on Wednesday I went to Fabric Land, bought more supplies and started making a new bag. I started with a how to from a website, but didn't understand the instructions so I just started winging it. Not the greatest idea since I had to rip out half the seams that I sewed but whatever. With a little guidance at the end from my aunt on how to mask my small mistakes, all is now well.
I'm even going back to the fabric store for more material so that I can make more!

Sewing School!
I had my first sewing class last night. We didn't do any sewing, instead we went to Fabricland and bought our supplies. We'll be making a tote bag and a pair of lounge/PJ pants which is exciting. I choose a nice coral and green fabric for my pants, and a blue and white geometric pattern for my bag. I didn't purchase my bag fabric yet because it goes on sale on Thursday. So I'll be heading back to the store on Friday (payday!) to get the rest of my supplies. I did however take some pictures which I am happy to be sharing. I can't wait to start sewing next week!

Spring is Here!
I have been enchanted by the plethora of robins bopping around lately. I decided to make a little felt one for myself. I ended up gifting it, giving it to my aunt for an Easter gift. Oh well, there are so many real ones around I'll have to content myself to look at them.
P.S. That's my sweet new bike in the background. I have dubbed her Georgia. She is as fun to ride as she is to look at.

Dear People of the World...
I stumbled across this gem on one of the blogs that I follow, although I couldn't for the life of me name which one. It's from the etsy store shopsaplingpress. It cracks me up every time that I see it. I posted the picture on facebook and suprisingly one of my church acquaintances reposted it. Never saw that one coming!
